Clutch going bad?
Has anyone else felt something similar to this? In 1st 2nd or 3rd I can get a vibration happening at random intervals. I can hear a grinding and feel it through the shifter and the clutch pedal. The car has 85,000 miles on the original clutch. It doesn't seem to slip, just grinds randomly when the clutch in pushed in. I can def. get it to happen in 1st gear pulling up my driveway (slight incline) and I push the clutch in as the car rolls into the garage. On the street it will happen while coasting with the clutch in. It almost sounds like something is rubbing, but the interval between the grinding noise is always different. At speed the car seems fine.
it also seems to do this when letting the clutch out in 1st and there is a squeak associated with it.
Is there a fool-proof method of testing my clutch? I have had clutches go bad before, but both times it never happened like this.
Any input would be appreciated, including the cost of replacing it at a dealership.
thx!
P.S. I guess 85,000 miles isn't so bad for a manual tranny LS1..
