Default Heard a pop in my clutch pedal and now...

the pedal stays where the clutch engages instead of coming back up. AND, when i push in on the clutch during movement...the RPMs go up a little before they fall back down. Is something going out on my clutch? Is there a pedal return spring that may have popped off? Please help...i'm about to make a 2000 mile road trip and don't need crap like this going on.

John, give Sean Gustin(aka SilverPig) a call at Corvettes of Houston tommorow. He had the same probs with his Trans Am a while back. His cell is (281) 250-1889 wk (281) 821-1222. He will tell you what to do, he will remember you from the UTI dyno day.

SELL IT! Buy a real car.......

It sounds like you have a slave cylinder losing pressure hoe. Crawl your big *** under it and look for leaks around the line, and the clutch master cylinder.

If you can't find any, then buy a Yugo and slap two T66's on that bitch and spank Kirns *** like there is no tomorrow!

I had my return spring break and pop off. Basically you would hear a loud clang under the dash when it breaks or lets loose. It's fairly beefy spring.

When it did break loose the clutch pedal could be depressed but the return was slow because the springs off the clutch disk would force the slave back pushing the pedal up. The spring helps out slightly by pulling the rod up creating a vacuum making that a bit easier.

I never experienced the RPM climb that you describe though.

Trace felt under the dash and the spring is still connected. I'm pretty sure it's the slave cylinder...i've had the problem before on my 98 several times. It's just not as bad this time around and wondered if it was something less complicated.
