Default t56 rebuild

Well I've got my t56 on the table with the bell housing off. I decided to order the rebuild manual from d&d before I go any further. I would like any information from anyone who has rebuilt their tranny, tipps, tricks, cautions, anything. Please help me out...thank you. Blake

Hi Blake,

I ran with a t56 for 3 years now. I ran it without ever touching it. My freind has gotten which is what i will be getting done also. Chryogenically freezing the input/output shafts and changing the 3/4 shift fork to the viper one. It is our weak link and is devestating if it breaks.

Hope I helped.

I just did mine a couple weeks ago.Took about 5.5 hours to replace 3rd/sync. and steel shift fork.Have a friend help you get the C clips off.I used duck bill needle nose to spread them enough to slide off. It's very easy to do with the book.

Well I received my manual and steel 3/4 shift fork from D&D Performance. After reading the manual I can say that it is top notch and very comprehesive.

I have a few questions for the guys that have done this rebuild. First, is there a rebuild kit available that includes all the disposable items ie snap rings and such. Second, I have been checking out presses and noticed that along with tonnage, the main difference is the amount of working area between the bed and the ram. How many inches do I need, and where do you get the tools to press against the bearings and such? And finaly...for now, is the gear puller illistrated common to regular tool stores? I know this is alot, but I really will appreciate the info. <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
