To do the PRO 5.0 or not
BTW .. Anyone know if they make a spring loaded 2nd to 3rd shifter for our cars like they had on the old GTO's and muscle cars. Anyone make one?? My uncle has a 69 GTO with a Hurst and when you tap that shifter out of second it shoots right into third and you barely have to touch it.
Thanks for any help/info:
and about the spring loaded 2-3 shifts on the old muscle cars... my '78 has that as well with the BW T-10, but so does your current Camaro. the stick automatically sits in the 3/4 gate, so it's spring-loaded there. however, that won't help any with better shifting. the only reason it's so easy to snap into 3rd on the old muscle cars is because there's no gears after 4, so you can push as hard as you want over and you won't miss. also, the forks are much farther apart on the old trannys so it's easier to glide in and not miss, as opposed to the newer (much closer-sitting) and gates.
good luck with the decision and let us know what you do

i say save your money and just get the stick...it truely makes the shifter feel totally different...and much shorter.
my throws from 1st to 2nd are about 3.5" of **** travel...
The only problem you will find, is that if your car makes any big power down the road, it will be dificult to shift with a "short stick" and you will have to go back to the regular length pro 5.0 shifter handle.

test drove an LS1 with the Pro5.0 installed and HATED the feel of the shifter. it was really stiff and i could barely find 3rd. i felt embarassed telling the guy i owned a 6spd car previously, cause i could barely drive his.
ended up buying a different LS1/t56 and installed the hurst and LSS from my old car (parted it) and have been happy with it ever second.
one of the best mods (any shifter really) you can do to your car. because no mattter how you look at it, you'll use the shifter ever time you drive....makeing it much more fun...whether you're just granny shifting around town or racing.
