Because it has triple cone blocker rings like the corvette. The vette/gto blocker rings are $500 for the kit and the f-body is only $169. That is wehre the $331 difference is.

there great with communication. bad with shipping. i need a tranny bad and there was long wait with the f-bodys. so i decided to pay the extra to get the GTO trans since amber said that she can get them within 2 days from a guy who keeps them on the shelf. before i placed my order i made sure i could get my transmission before MAY 4. they said it would be here on either APRIL 30 OR MAY 1. well that didnt work. then it was supposed to be here MAY 4 . well that didnt work. then i get a voicemail saying that they were still waiting on tail shaft housing. then it was supposed to be shipped out JUNE 18th. well NO. now the 3-4 blocker rings were on back order from tremec. so finally i get a DHL tracking number last thursday JUNE 21ST saying my trans was supposed to be here today JUNE 25. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE. i called DHL today (june 25th) and they said they havnt picked up the trans yet. bonnie said amber dropped the trans off on friday the 22nd, and that dhl dosent really do sH!+ on the weekends that i should be able to track it by tonight or tommorow. well last time i check monday wasn't the weekend. and i always thought monday was the START of the work week not tuesday. like i said before amber and bonnie are great with communication. i just wish i would of got my product like promised almost a 2 months ago. and not given the run around. i passed up a great deal on a D&D BUILT T56 with the viper goodies from my friend mightymouse. i told bonnie if i dont see that my transmission is shipped out tommorow. im calling and getting my $2250.00 refund, ive been more than patiant. and i even payed for this well over a month ago.

 

Well I know for a fact it left since I am the one that dropped it off at DHL. You might want to call them again and ask them if they show it was dropped off. The local facility shows it. With our bad weather right now I doubt anything leave the facility tonight. I know our parking lot is flooded and Joe and I are still here. DHL is on the way for today shipments but they haven't even made it due to the weather.

If you take a look at our website it shows we are on a 6 week back order. We get to them in the order they are placed and I don't skip over someone as it is not fair to them. Chris, when your name came up I am sure you would not have wanted me putting someone ahead of you. Once your order is placed for the 4A your name goes on the list. Once it comes up your transmission is built and shipped.

It was also a GTO tranny which no one else in the country does. D&D won't touch them since they are not easy to rebuild. If it was a standard LS1 it wouldn't be that bad but it has double the parts and double the headache when ordering the individual blocker rings.

It is on the way. Might want to ask DHL when you call to check the local facility and have them pull it. I know it is on the way since I am the one that took the time to drop it off.

im not arguing with you amber, im just upset. but its been over 6 weeks. when we talked on the phone about this back in mid april why didnt you just tell me it would take awhile instead of saying ill have it before may 4th. you said that the GTO tranny would be built and out the door in a few days since you could get the tranny brand new within 1 or 2 days . i understand its a buisness and **** happens, but i was told my name was at the top of the board quite a few times at the beging of june. if i would of just been told the whole truth the 1st time instead of being given the run around i wouldnt be as upset.

edit: this transmission was payed for on APRIL 25TH. so which means i ordered it before that date.

 

Yeah even though F bodys dont have the triple cone blocker rings( which will make it easier to downshift @ High RPMs) just like a dual friction disc clutch vs single....

I still managed to do a 2 - 3 - 2 shift in my Camaro

luckily my car runs just fine still.

 

Ordered on the 23rd. Payment on the 25th but there we several issues from the 23rd to the 25th. Since it is on the way nothing I can change on it now. That is one reason we have changed the website to reflect it will take 6 weeks. The GTO and LS1 FB Use the same housing so it most likely would still have taken that long. I try to look at the board and give an estimate but waiting on customers to send us cores back is becoming a hassle. We now must have the core within 2 weeks of the 4A coming to them or the core refund doesn't apply. That is why we are cutting our core time now since everyone wants there money back. That is the only way I can have a quick turn around. Even with me owning 40 cores and having them in rotation still doesn't cut the time down. Call me in the morning around 11am and we will track it together that way we are on the same page. Don't want any more confusion and trust me DHL can confuse the hell out of you. They are not like UPS and update hourly. They only update at midnight and it SUCKS.

I hate to hear that you're having a bad experience. I was having a rebuild, not buying a trans outright, so I'm sure that's a different matter.

I have nothing but great things to say about 'em.

 

Yeah we called DHL together this morning and everything is straight. It just takes hearing it from DHL to understand how there process works. Not like UPS or Fedex.

Yea sorry to hear about your experience. But the way you can tell a good company from a bad one is the way Amber does customer service. Bad ones dont bother to reply or hide from confrontation or dont do anything about it. Amber seems very adamant to provide great communication and customer service.

No company is without problems or unfortunate situations. It's how they handle them that makes or breaks them.

 

That's very true. No matter if she's had no news, she's returned my (NUMEROUS) PM's.

Best of luck to all dealing with them. I wish you all had had the luck I have, for once. My luck is generally SHI-TAY and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

Well, that answers my question, why you were unable to get back to me today on a tracking number, I sent out my tranny last monday, and its already on its way out, Bonnie told me it went out on the 25th, I'm impressed.
