to me it's not notchy, it's firm and u know what gear u are in. this 5.0 is just an extention of the tranny, not the "fluffy" stockers. It's going to feel different from stock, but I think ur gonna find more people that like it than not.

Can someone please give me directions for the install. Do I have to remove the entire console or can I just remove the upper part to the console and get at the bolts holding the shifter to the trans? On my v6 there were two rubber boots..one that went directly over the shifter and stretched over it and one big boot that bolted to the floor. Which one should I keep on?

shifter install:
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...er_install.htm

This is the boot you have to cut for the 5.0:

If you don't cut it, you WILL get rubber chunks in the shifter. I never cut mine and when I took my 5.0 out to sell it, it had tiny pieces of rubber in it that I had to clean out. You may also consider using some fiber washers between the stick and shifter and cutting your 5.0 stick 1" since the sticks come longer than a short stick like LSS. Also be sure to use red loctite.

If your car is under warranty still, be careful about the the 5.0 shifter since they could void any trans or clutch work because of the aftermarket shifter. When my clutch was having problems, I took out the 5.0 just in case.

P.S. I considered the Pro 5.0 in the car I drove to be somewhat notchy....it was better than stock...but I didn't care much for it. Just my thoughts...

u don't need to buy a LSS, cut the 5.0 shifter. It has plenty of thread u can cut off. just messure how deep the ball will go on the stick, leave that much on the stick and whack the rest off. don't worry about if it's EXACTLY flat, it'll work. just don't mess up the threads, pretty easy not to do.

If you are going to cut threads on the shifter and you have a shift ball with a jam nut (best upgrade ever....a shifter that won't spin on hot days)....run the jam nut onto the bottom of the threads before cutting....then just clean them up with a small file and remove the nut to clean up the rest....makes it much less trouble.

Good luck!
