Default lt t56 > ls t56

i have a lt t56 tranny...here is the funny part...i bought it from a guy who said it was from a 96 lt4 vette, but i thought that they were all zf 6 speeds, but mine is definitely a borgue warner. anyways, i got it for two reasons, if i ever blow a gear or tear up some synchros, i can borrow them from the lt tranny and put it in my ls tranny. the other scenario is that i may put it in a future 70 corvette project car. however, just out of curiousity, can i just change out the different parts from the lt (bellhousing, tailshaft, throwout arm to hydraulics, and put in dextron 3) and then put it in my ls1? i plan on beefing up a 6speed, and polishing it for my car(i like "neat things")in the not so distant future for my "future" motor ...i got it for a decent deal(700 bucks), and it is like brand freekin new, shifts like a dream, and the aluminum after i brushed the dust off looked like it was just molded (which would polish up nicely)...so i couldnt resist. thanks for any input

If I recall correctly the bolt patten is different. I read somewhere that it will bolt up, but a few of the bolts can not be used.

The clutch is different, so you're gonna have to retain the LS1 clutch/cylinders.

As for bellhosing and input shaft you've got me. Someone here will know though.

oh yeah, if you decide to part it out I'll be interested in the tailshaft extension housing for a project of mine.
