Really, that's thefirst I've heard of with smaller thread. I know hurst makes adapter reings for there shifters but I'm not sure if you can buy them without having to buy one of there shifters.

I had the B&M ripper in for about the two years that I’ve had the car. I don't know if the people who put it in didn't set it up properly or what, but it sucked. The B&M was clunky and harder to get into gear than the stock Hurst I picked up and replaced it with. I learned to drive standard on this car and until I removed it, had no idea that the B&M stick is angled towards the driver. I really don’t like that at all and it was probably making life shifting even harder on me. With the Hurst, I haven't missed a shift when it's mattered yet. *clickclick* and it's in. I can't imagine how nice the billet must be.

When I took the B&M out, I first took off the plate that holds the stick in because this is my first manual car and I didn’t know that it’s not necessary to do that in order to remove entire shifter mechanism. I noticed that on the top of the plate on the right side where the spring touches it, it was worn. There was no wear on the left side though. On the right side there was also a small spacer, probably the thickness of two pennies, in with the spring. Does any of that sound off to anyone? I guess it’s there to firm that spring up more and make sure it never ends up in reverse when the car is going forward? Or is reverse locked-out electronically?

Yes reverse is locked out electrically inside the transmission. I dont know what all this hate is on the pro 5.0 but I guess each to their own. I recently installed the Pro 5.0 and its no more noisey than the stock shifter. I have no noise at all. And the shifts are precise and positive.

I love it and I'd never install anything else.

I heard great hype about the PRO 5.0. I got it and there were noticiable sharper shifts 1-2, but really 3-4 (as stated). The only problem I got tired of was the geartrain noise that traveled up the stick (with stops backed 1/2 round out from touching or completely). Maybe I should have replaced the shifter cup (the part that the shifter fits into) in my transmission before installing the PRO 5.0 to ensure a tighter fit. I also didn't like the fact that PRO 5.0 recommends cutting your factory rubber boot. I just enlarged the hole, fit the boot over the shifter, and used a tie wrap in the rubber lip for a solid fit. Not a bad shifter at all, but I am just as happy with the stock Hurst shifter with the addition of a short stick to it.

if you are looking for adjustable stops, don't get the B&M. i bought it and love it, but the little paper it comes with says that using the stops on T56 will more than likely damage the transmission. go figure...
