Just wondering what a 98 corvette t56 can handle. I have a friend who is having a whine issue when you let off the gas in 3rd or 4th gear. If he would choose to have the tranny rebuilt, what upgrades are recommended?

I mainly want the specs. What are these transmissions rated at being able to handle from the factory?

I dont think GM put out a number on that, the stocker is known to have taken 700HP and maybe up to 800 in some cases.

tremec rated the C5 t56 for a max of 400 ft. lbs. of torque. oddly enough, the f-body t56 for 450. ??? obviously they will handle much more than that, otherwise there would be A LOT of people with broken transmissions on here. a lot of people start with steel shift forks. talk to call T-56 Rebuilds if you want to know how best to upgrade, they've been very helpful to me.
