no speedo, no reverse...wtf????
ok i just had my t56 rebuilt by a local transmission repair shop and now since i got it back, my speedometer isnt working. i checked all the connections and everything is good there. took a test light to the wires, and everythings hot except for the wires going to the speed sensor. all the fuses are good. so i dont know where to look now.
also, at first, reverse was working perfectly but after driving it a few miles, it wont go in at all. (as if the lock-out solenoid isnt releasing.) are these two problems related? any help at all is appreciated.
btw, noone of these problems occured before the trans rebuild.

does anyone have the part number for the reverse lockout solenoid? i checked the codes and the only ones that came up were some pre-exhisting AIR stuff and speed sensor codes. changed the speed sensor and still nothing. could it still possibly be the reverse lockout even tho it only had speed sensor codes? also, when i cleared the codes, reverse came back for a while. then went away again, all the while still with no speedometer.

update: the reluctor ring for the mag pick-up for the speed sensor was in the wrong spot on the output shaft. its held in by two snap rings but there is 3 grooves for a snap ring, therefore leaving two possible positions for the reluctor ring. it was just not lined up with the sensor. im guessing the output shaft has 3 snap ring grooves cut in order to be able to run different tail housings for different t-56 equipped cars and all utilize the same output shaft.

Do what ? There is only two snap rings for the speedo gear . They probably went too far with the ring and only use the one furthest from the rear .

i believe they had it to close to the rear actually. theres another groove cut towards the rear for some reason and thats what he used. and whats this about the reverse lockout sensor? mine is fine. this problem has been fixed for a good month now.
