Does a solid pilot bushing need special grease?

 

no grease they are self lubricating

 

Why wouldn't you? I don't remember what kind I used, but you definately need some lube. I think I just used regular GP grease. If not, you will wear your input shaft out.

 

it doesnt need anything special... i usually put some grease on it so the shaft so it slides in easier... dont put it on the outside (where it touches the crank) and dont put it an excessive amount on (grease + clutch = bad)

also, dont put any on the trans shaft.. you're bound to touch the clutch some, and if it gets on the splines, it will "scrape" into globs on it.. then be flung into the clutch (once more grease + clutch = bad)

just enough to rub onto the bushing is fine.. technically its soft enough that it is "self lubricating" as said previously.
