Default Strange wear on my clutch after 3800 miles

So in the process of my turbo install I am rebuilding the trans and inspecting the clutch. I had a period of clutch dragging problems last fall. It seemd related to the colder weather. Well, I took the clutch apart and this is what I found. The pressure plate side looks darn near perfect, the flywheel does not though. Anybody seen this before? I expected to see both sides showing signs of slipping.

I haven’t seen many mid-life clutches so I can’t give you expert advice. But I am not surprised that the two sides have different wear patterns because the flywheel and PP are different material – billet steel and ductile iron. If it was my project, considering the difficulty of replacing a clutch, I would take the opportunity to install a new disc and have the flywheel blanchard ground.

Is that a text? I just sent mine back for the same reason. Everthing worked great but when I pulled the motor to replace it I found the clutch looking like that.

I just noticed your McLeod bellhousing plate. Are you aware that the plate makes the McLeod deeper than the stock GM bell? If you didn't add a shim equal to the plate thickness then your clutch might not fully disengage.

Yes it is a textralia

Gary, where did you find out that a shim was needed? When I asked that I was told it would work fine on an LS1, no shims needed.

The Textralia doesn't need a shim if you have a stock bellhousing. The McLeod modular bell is very near to stock depth (5.5 inches) without the plate. With the plate, the McLeod is deeper than the original bell.
