Default Which clutch should I get?

I'm trying to decide on a clutch. As you can see from the sig, my car is not heavily modded right now. This winter, new clutch, either a DTS 12 bolt or the DTS 9" rear end, et streets, ported tb. Next winter, stage II heads and cam. I don't want to have to replace this clutch for a while. We only go to the track two, maybe three times per year and each time it's like four or five runs. Very little street racing. Which clutch would you guys think would last the longest under the above conditions, the Ram VDS 910, McCleod, Cartek or Star Spec.

Really they are all decent cluches...some chatter much worse than others. If you can afford it go with the twin disk McLeod. It's smoother than the SPEC stage 3, Cartek or RAM. It will hold about anything you throw at it. If that's too much $$$ you could always step down in price to a kevlar single disk McLeod which is what I use(same clutch for 2 years) and several others that consistantly throw low to high 1.5 60 foot times without a problem on stage 2 heads/cam cars. If your really on a budget, The revlokII is the budget clutch and is grabbier than the others I mentioned but feel pretty close to the RAM and SPEC clutches. I'm a big Mcleod fan so take it for what it worth.

I'm in the same boat. I don't know what clutch to get myself. My T/A has been in the garage now for almost 3 weeks. I've got a P1SC on my LS1, and my stock clutch is dead! Is there a clutch out there that doesn't require an adjustable master cylinder? I keep hearing very bad stories about these cylinders! Anybody?????? I'll be running somewhere around the 450hp mark, but I don't drag race. Its just a street car. Tell me a happy story about a dependable clutch for around $500. Thanks

I've looked at the pricing of the Ram 910 and the way I see it, it's about the same price as the Mcleod Twin Disk. But, in line with 2000Silverbullets post, what is the deal with the adjustable master cylinder. What is "adjustable" and have they really had that many problems with them and if so, what kind of problems?

Look at "Fed up with mecloed adjustable cylinder" post. Its just a few posts down from this post. It makes me want to stay as far away from one of those pains in the ***. Bleeding out system every other day. Not for me!

I have a SPEC 3 CARBON clutch in my 416RWHP 2000 stock headed SS and I love it. It will work fine with the updated 01-02 hydralics. No adjustable master in necessary. Clutch is around the $500.00 area and will hold up to 600-650 RWHP. It has a STOCK type feel (I.E. It on't wear your *** out in traffic). Can hold up to 5-6K clutch dumps and has little to no clutch chatter. GREAT product!!

SPEC 3's are awesome.
My SPEC 3 Kevlar disc broke my C5 Torque Tube (driveshaft) twice now.

Replacing with the newer HD p/n and swapping out the SPEC 3 that is 1.5 years old for a new SPEC 3 Ceramic and Luk Gen2 PP. Planning on more power.
