The 1/2 and factory 3/4 forks are aluminum . I'm betting you busted the fork and its stuck in 4th gear . It will be a lot cheaper of a rebuild if thats the case .........

I just had mine out to replace the clutch. Now I need to do it all over to have the t56 rebuilt. The top bell housing bolts are a bitch, but the torque arm was worse.

Top bell housing bolts are simple as long as you pull the trans first, then the bell. If you try to take it all out as one, it is a royal PITA!

One bolt is where the bracket is on top and one on the other side on top. You need 2 1/2- 3' of extnetions and a short wobbler socket to get it.

Unbolt the trans from the bellhousing and pull it out . As for the front plate , unbolt the 15mm head bolts all around the front plate . Take a medium size hammer and tap on the plate while wiggling it a little bit . It should come off and you will probably see the chunks of fork sitting under the cluster gear . Make sure you don't lose the front bearing races or shims under them . Sometimes they are kind of loose in the front plate and will come out when you pull the plate off . Its not a big deal , just don't loose them if they come out .

I also reccomend using the quick disconect for the hydrolics rather than unbolting the slave to let it hang. Just easier.
