Question syncromesh??

I've seen the fluid syncromesh alot here, but i'm not familiar with it. What is it? synthetic atf or someting else?? this is the first i've heard of it. it's time for a service in my t56 anyway. so if any one could give me the run down on this stuff that would be great. thanks for the help!

Straight from the pennzoil website. In case you don't know pennzoil makes the gm sycromesh, I recomend picking up the pennzoil at your local parts store for half the price vs buying the gm stuff at a dealer. Same product so why not get it cheaper.

PennzoilŽ Synchromesh Fluid is a synchromesh transmission fluid designed for certain manual transaxles and manual transmissions used by General Motors or Chrysler. PennzoilŽ Synchromesh Fluid is formulated with high quality paraffinic base stocks, a fluidity modifier, multifunctional performance additives, corrosion inhibitors, a foam suppressor and a shear stable viscosity index improver additive. It provides excellent oxidation stability, low temperature performance, excellent synchronizer performance and compatibility with yellow metals, such as bronze, brass and copper components found in manual transaxles and transmissions. This product will satisfactorily lubricate General Motors or Chrysler manual transaxles and transmissions from -40°C to +150°C.

Benefits:

Exhibits excellent low temperature performance
Meets GM Specification 9985648 and Chrylser Specification MS-9224
Suitable for use in GM manual transaxles and transmissions requiring GM Part No. 12345349 or 12345577
Suitable for use in Chrylser transaxles and transmissions requiring Part No. 4874464
Excellent synchronizer performance
Excellent yellow metal compatibility

I really like the stuff, i've ran a few different fluids, regualar ATF, m1 atf and royal purple sycromax and I like the pennziol sycromesh the best, its the smoothest IMO.

I liked it when I ran it. But if you live where it gets <35 degrees in winter, it can make for sluggish/grinding gear changes before it gets to optimum operating temps.

Go to AutoZone and get the Pennzoil brand for $6-$7/quart. It is the same stuff as the GM brand.

I guess you did't read my post. The gm sycomesh is made by pennzoill you can get it under the penzoil name at most parts stores for half the price. Its the same exact product no differance what so ever other than the name on the bottle and the price.

Call Amber at SixSpeeds inc and ask her. Something about causing the blocker rings to degrade at an excellerated rate. I trust her...hence I no longer run it and never will again.

I guess you didn't know that I did that three weeks ago. I was just saying the **** is expensive at the GM parts counter.
