what rear end came on a 98 ta with t-56

It would be a 7.5-7.625 ring gear 10 bolt w/ 3.42 final ratio.
The RPO codes on the door will give you all the stock info, do a search here for the code designations.

I thought the '98 TA's were 3.23 and the ram-airs were 3.42?

Never heard of a T-56 F-body car coming with anthing else but a 3.42 from the factory.
