Can this SPEC billet flywheel be resurfaced?
I got a spec billet flywheel with the motor I bought and it has about 20,000 miles on it and you can feel with your hand the slight groove where the clutch contacted it. I was wondering if these were able to get machined and if so how much? Thanks. Heres a pic of the flywheel.

Kinda wondering myself. Someone gave me a SLP lightened flywheel. I had it resurfaced and the machine shop got pissed because he said it destroyed 2 cutting heads and took forever to cut. He only charged me $20 though.

you can have them resurfaced average cost is between $20 and $40 only thing that I'm aware of is that you have to watch how much is removed because you will run into problems with the slave cyl. you will have to shim the slave to compinsate for the loss of material so that clutch will disingage.

If it gets resurfaced one time it will still be ok depth wise. The shim that SPEC provides is supposed to be used in f-bodys with spec clutches. I have mine shimmed and resurfaced and it releases fine.

If you take more than .015 out of it, considering that the disc and plate have wear too, you are removing too much. The shim we provide with the clutch kit is meant to go behind the slave-cylinder and it is not specific to machining the flywheel. There are folks that have added other shims in order to get more life out of a flywheel but you have to be careful...insuring that you have the right amount of shim because it effects geometry. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
