When people say they have a Viper unit in there F-body they mean its an F body unit built to Viper specs . Basically its a F body T56 with updated syncros , steel 3/4 shift fork and a Viper mainshaft . This requires the tailhousing to be bored out to accept a larger tailhousing bushing and rear seal . The other issue is the speedo gear as well . Its not a simply swap and most shops cannot do the required modifications to make it work . I have done a few but they are expensive and not needed unless the person is making a whole lot of power .

thanks guys for the input, so do you think it would be more beneficial to just get a LS1 T56?
