Default Intrest in Stronger T-56 Components?

Right now, I am in the process of designing and machining some experimental components for our T-56's. The stock components (syncro keys) are the weakest and most commonly broken parts in our T-56's. Symptoms of this weak component breaking is the transmission getting stuck in a certain gear, or difficult to get in/out of a certain gear(s), or grinding going into a certain gear(s), which is commonly mistaken for a bad syncro/syncro blocking ring. From my experience with the amount of T-56 rebuilds I have done, these parts seem to be the number one weakness, and the most common problem. My question is, if I were to mass produce these parts, how much intrest would I have from the members here? The first batch for testing should be produced this week, and I will be testing them in my own transmission. I will have more information sometime in the next two weeks. I just want to get an idea for the intrest in these parts, espically since I know a lot of members here still have warranty, and just take their car in to have the tranny fixed for free when broken. I just want to know if it will be worth my time/money to try and sell these parts. If these parts are mass produced, and I have enough intrest, I will of course become a sponsor on this board.

Good luck. U might want to call/work with D&D in Michigan. They may have some good info for you. Would be nice to have more T56 options.

Unfortunately D&D only offers stock replacements. They do not have any "stronger" replacement components.

I've had my tranny rebuilt at D&D and have had no issues so far. The biggest piece that breaks is the shift fork, which they have a steel replacement for. The rest of the parts would be a good improvement. Just like the other reply mentioned, give Joe at D&D a call and see what they would like. When I stopped by there with my tranny they do a ton of T56 setups for Vipers, Mustangs and GM. Beyond all that, if you can make some stronger parts I'd be interested. Here's a picture of everything that had to come out during the last rebuild.

The 3-4 shift fork took a dump and they replaced the 1-2 synchro, 2nd gear and a full synchro rebuild.

i'd definitely be interested in stronger t56 parts...as soon as my new motor gets made, ill be rebuilding the tranny, and i would want to do it right the first time, so i would definitely be a customer if your parts prove themselves.

I'm very interested. Though I have heard the weak point is also the input shaft, and the stronger input shaft in the Viper T56 won't fit into our T56.

You should see if D&D would be interested in them. When my 5&6 gear went bad, bent fork, the synchro was replaced also just because those little tabs fell out and got ground up. They aren't available separately, so I had to buy the entire synchro ($80) just to get those tabs. The existing syncho was in decent shape. It would be nice if all the parts of the syncho were available separately.

I would love to have stronger synchros glad to see someone showing an interest in making them. I wish you had them done already, My tranny is acting up with only 20,000 miles doesn't want to go in to 1st or 2nd when downshifting,My dealer is going to fix it under warranty I know the mechanic pretty well he is a gearhead also, he said if I brought him upgraded parts he would install them for me. Only upgrade I could find was the 3-4 gear steel shift fork. I believe you would have tons of sales for stronger synchros, from what I have read lots of people are getting frustrated screwing with these janky trannies!!
