On a Pro 5.0 shifter for a T-56, where do you set the shift stops at?
I just got it in the other day and I wanted to install it, but I noticed that there was some bolts and nuts in front and behind the stick stopping the stick from going any further. I would assume those are the shift stops. I wanted to know how to set them? I dont know how far or close to set those bolts. Thanks and any help is much appreciated. Is there any thing I should be careful of when installing it? Do you know any tricks? Thanks again.

They are not necessary on the T56, since it has internal stops. But, rule of thumb was to put the stick in 3rd and 4th, run the bolt all the way to the shifter (while in gear), then back it off the shifter by 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. It would only hit those stops if something inside the tranny breaks though!

The Pro5.0 shifter was first designed and heavily used by 5.0 Mustangs. My guess it was left over engineering, and was prolly cheaper to leave it than machine a new piece.
