Default help with bolts..

I've starting to take out the tranny for my new clutch. How the heck do I get to the top bolt, passenger side holding the trans to the bellhousing? There is some kind of wire in the way. Anyone have tips for this?

Just connect 2 or 3 pretty good size extensions together and you can reach it.

I used like 3 ft of extensions if I remember right. Go over the trans itself and put the ratchet to the passenger side of the output shaft. that bolt holds that wire loom there. its a pain in the *** but youll get it.

Ah yes, the bastard bolt!! i would have everything disconnected except a couple of bolts holding the trans to the bellhousing. with a jack under the transmission, drop the trans crossmember and lower the jack. it should tilt enough to get to it a lil easier. you can actually see the bolt that youre taking out this way. also at least 2' of extensions and maybe a universal would help too

I just finished doing my LS7 clutch swap and yea that bolt and the top bellhousing bolt suck. Ihad athe socket then a three inch extension, then a swivel, then a 12 inch extension and alot of patience. I didnt bother to even try to put the bracket back on, i just put the bolt in.

Omg guys we finally got it! After about 45 minutes of playing around with about 4 extensions we were able to somehow find the bolt and get it out.

We just dropped the tranny, done for the night and tomorrow I'll be taking off the rest. I have a question tho, on the top left of my transmission what is the hose coming out? It was the one that goes by the PITA bolt, but it doesnt connect to anything?

It's the vent tube. If you're going to be taking the tranny out again, (never say never), go to Sears and get on one of those really long extensions, (24" I think), that and a swivel makes that bolt much less of a pita. One of the best tools I have...

alright guys! its a nice sunny day in california to spend in my garage taking out my old clutch. Today I just need to remove the presure plate, disc and flywheel. Anything I should know before hand or do the guides pretty much cover it?
