Why only T-56??
Has anyone ever heard of installing a Richmond 6 speed ROD in a 4th gen.? Personally, I have an A4 and would love to have it converted to a M6 but I hear so many horror stories about the T-56. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> If I ever do get the money to get a new tranny, would it be possible to get a bulletproof one by going the ROD route?
Thanks for the reply.

I don't know if the Richmond will bolt up to the
LSX block. Also I think the Richmond utilizes the same style clutch as the old LT1 doesn't it? I don't know if the Ls1 style clutch can be converted!

Re: Why only T-56??
The T56 is probably one of the best designed transmissions out there today. The main problem came into play when Borg Warner sold all of the tranny buisness to Tremec and thats when the QC problems started.
Breakage problems seem to stem from lack of aftermarket parts to hold up to the increased power being put thru it and lack of driver skill.
If you are going to spend that much money building up the motor why not spend a little in the drivetrain and get a tranny to do what you want to do with the car. If you want to go road racing get a Hewland or similar. If you want to go drag racing get a 4spd ST10 or a GForce or similar 'crash box'.

Re: Why only T-56??
A good friend of mine has an ROD in his 3rd gen and every time I ask him about the car, he starts cussing about the tranny. That thing has all sorts of issues... it leaks out the vent tube, the Heim joints on the external linkage have frozen up, etc...
Personally, I would stay the hell away from 'em, but that's just me.
