Those are some big tires. Anyway, do you want an auto or a stick? From the choice of gears i guess its going to be a track only car, ami right? What is your power level? There are soo many variables. If you want a stick, i would go with a built T56 from Six Speeds inc.

There are still too many variables. Do you want it to last one season or many, do want to be able to pick the gear ratios, what kind of shifter do you want (manual, air or?). There are many tranny's and options available and the limiting factor for most is money see what you want and can afford.

manual, not very expensive, and i can refresh it every season if i have to. picking gear ratios could just get too confusing, but maybe.

Run a Jerico. Straight cut gears and excellent alloy material. You could get one used for reasonable price. A toploader is pretty strong, but the gears are weaker alloy and are helical cut. I run a Jerico in my '69 AMX making about the power you are, without problems. If you spend a little more and get a tough setup to start with you will save time and money in the long run, because you won't have to go through the rebuild hassles. Good luck!
