Default clutch pedal not fully re-tracting

I'm tearing up this message board with questions guys so bare with me. My 99' Z is not only my first Camaro but I bought it used so I'm still getting used to the quarks. Finding out what's typical and what's not. I also like to do all of my own work when I can so I need info. My clutch will pedal will go down fine. When I release it, it dis-engages, and the transmission picks up just fine, but does not re-tract to its original position for like a second or a couple of seconds. It is sticking then slapping me in the foot. This is tempramental but getting to the point where it does it all the time. What is going on? Does it sound like something I can get too and adjust or should I take it to a shop because it's about to go out? Hope you guys can help.

Usaully this is a hydraulic issue. You slave or master cylinders(clutch, not brake) may be weakening OR you may simply have air in the system and need to bleed it. My 00 WS6 was doing the same thing, but in my case it was the pilot bearing and throw-out bearing were bad and replaced under warranty. If you Z28 is no longer under warranty, your best bet would be to replace it with a good aftermarket one, especially if you plan to increase the power or race it extensively. My recommendation would be to upgrade to a RAM VDS clutch system. It includes: new hydraulics(an adjustable master cylinder, and new slave), billet steel flywheel, pressure plate, and disk(several disks available). Call Mikey at Rapid Motorsports for all the info www.rapidmotorsports.com and I think Futral Motorsports carries RAM products too. In my opinion RAM has the best customer service of all the clutch companies.

Also, I almost forgot....if you go to have someone do the work for you, go to someone who has a good working knowledge of the LS1 clutch system. I can't stress this enough. A "hole-in-the-wall" shop will only cause more damage then good, believe me. When I had my very first clutch installed in my 99 SS(SPEC stage 3 carbon which by the way , but is ok in my stock WS6), the shop had nothing but problems because they had no experience with the new hydraulic system of the LS1 clutch.
