reverse selonoid/ tran PICs

is this the reverse selonoid? if so the sensor that clips to it has one of the wires broken, and i cannot tell where it disconnected from. what is this part called and where does it go?

the next pic is on the driver's side top of the tranny and i noticed this plug with nothing in it, is this normal?

Looks like the un plugged one is the CAGs soleniod, must have been disabled at some point in time. That brocken wire should be in the harness that all the other wires off the transmission run to. You may have to pull the tape and wire loom off to find the other end.

so i should be able to spliced it back together, an that should fix my no reverse problem?, its sad i took this car to a shop and they didn't even bother to look, they saw the short shifter and blamed it on that.
