If your clutch isn't disengaging properly, it can cause the tranny to grind.
If your tranny synchronizers are wearing out, they will start to grind.
Most of the time its the tranny if only one gear is grinding. If the clutch isn't disengaging correctly, each gear would typically grind.
T56 rebuilds cost around $750.

Re: slight grind in 2nd i had the same problem with the stock clutch, the stock clutch wasnt grabbing at higher rpm shifts and i was slamming the gears and syncros. You should see my flywheel, its terrible looking for 6k miles. Either change the clutch or you will be taking your trans in soon for a rebuild,
