Default Marathon of part replacement started...

Well Getting the whole car up on jack stands is always a hassle but Im on my way to putting on ; Tex clutch, Rebuild kit from six speed, chromoly DS, Midwest fab 9 35sp w locker, and new adj LCA's. Waitin on the rear but still have to get everything out of the car first. Just unhooked most of the lines from the rear and soaked rusty bolts in pb blast. I imagine the rear wont take long to get out at all. And if that goes well then Ill try my best to get the tranny out myself tonight as well. I imagine the most time consuming thing is going to be rebuilding the trans. Oh and I also have my extra 10 spokes here waitin to get the hoosier DR's mounted on. I cant wait till its done. How long do you think it will take me? Im betting a month with random parts shop runs and getting tools I need. Im taking my time and gonna try to not get angry.

Oh and any tips greatly appreciated..

Thanks,
Erik

Are you going to do the tranny rebuild yourself? If so, it doesn't take too long. The rear swap can be done in a day and so can the clutch. A month should be plenty of time. A good floor jack/trans jack and a buddy will be your friend in both the rear end and trans swap... They are heavy...

Thanks. The friend will def be a big help. I just pulled the rear myself. Wasnt to bad other than taking off all 400 bolts do disconnect the brake lines from the rear. And the way the brakes were routed had me stumped for a bit. I couldnt get the rear out b/c of them. Took me a while to figure out that I could just disconnect the E brake.

Oh and yes I will be attempting the rebuild myself. The living room is going to turn into a workshop.

Ok almost died but alls going well. I wish I had about 6 more inches under the car. Would have made "supermanning" the tranny out a lot easier. It may have given me an internal bleed from smashing my stomach. 2 of the bellhousing bolts were a pita. Time to clean up and prepare for the install. I dont think I lost anything...

When lifting the transmission... remove fluid... every bit helps. I've lifted that on my own and it's doable but by the time you get around to the actual install, you're pretty much exhausted from doing all the other stuff. Also good to have a friend around.
