Default Opinions on clutches by experience only

I am asking the same question asked every month; What's the best clutch for a 400 hp daily driver? Only I don't want to hear opinions from people who read about it or heard it from a freind, or even shop guys that heard it from a customer. If at all possible, I'd like to hear comparisons on different cluthes from people that actually ran them in their car.
Right now I'm running a centerforce dual friction in my car. I put it in the day I bought my car, and at 29K miles it's still holding fine. To me it feels great, doesn't chatter, I'm very happy with it! It seems to me that most people in here don't like the centerforce clutches that much, & prefer mostly the ram or the mcleod setups.
I've never ran anything but the centerforce so I'm not sure if I really am missing out on the wonderful world of ram or mcleod. So who in here has personally ran more than one clutch in the same car and which did you like better?
thanks

I was running a spec stage 4 ceramic on my nitrous setup that was over the 400hp mark. It held very well and didn't fell any differant then stock. I was using the stock master also with no issues and the price is very fair. I have since switched to a mcloed street twin. It's a little more grabby on the street and low rpm's but it definately grabs hard.

I've used both the SPEC stage 3, and the stage 5. Both have similar to stock pedal pressure. For 400rwhp, I would recommend the stage 3. Easy to drive on the street, little to no chatter. It holds very well, even hundreds of dumps with slicks at 6800 rpm. When it wore out, I got the stage 5. Little overkill.

i had the centerforce in my 01 ws6.i HATED the clutch and after 700miles i got rid of it. i now have the RAM 910 and this clutch is awsome.the pedal feels like stock,it's smooth and i can take off at idle and the car does NOT shake (like centerforce did bad).i feel the ram is the ONLY way to go. i have 424.1 hp old set up.when new motor gets more miles i'll dyno again,i'm hopping for 445hp goodluck to ya.. ram 910

Hey Mike, What kind of problems were you having with you're clutch? Ditching a new clutch after 700 miles, it must of been giving you some real problems. also which centerforce was it. And to everyone else, please keep them coming!

Stock clutch lasted 6k miles.50 passes
RAM 402/6130-peddle pressure was hard(sucked in traffic)Held like a **** at the track till I melted the disk to flywheel-lasted 25 passes and 1500 miles.
Mcleod Kevlar/Organic has lasted 35 passes and 4k miles so far.Peddle pressure is very close to stock and grabs very smoothly.Would recommend this the most out of my experience.

the centerforce i HAD is the dual friction PT# 36-df017010 w/adj master from thunder racing.i had no problems with the clutch,it's just if i would try to take off at idle it would shake the car real, real bad.i just did'nt like the way it performed so i ditched it. the ram is night and day better,i'm still kinda shocked how great the ram is.

See my post in here about the SPEC stage II. I've also had first hand experience with the Stage III and it chattered too much for my liking on the street. Both are fine for that much hp.

I've got the Mcleod Rev Lok II with a mcleod m/c. This clutch works just fine. It's kind of a PITA around town though with these 3.73's b/c it does not like to slip. If you don't slip it to 1400rpm's and take off really slow like in a parking lot it will chatter like crazy. With the m/c the pedal; is stiff as hell. I don't even notice it though unless i drive my beater for a whole week w/o driving the formula. I plan to try something else when this one wears out unless this one can actually hold when I hit thr track and spray outta the hole. If that is the case I'll stick with what works.

have the twins after I ditch the stocker 37k and slipped on me twice.once on a 4k dump and try to spray out of the hole with a 100shot.almost done with the 500mi. break-in.pedal feel is hard but I like it.also replace the master, new slave and drill mod.getting ready to hit the track.overall I like the twins but kinda pricey for some people.
