Default Clutch install problems

Well I put everything together and went to push on the clutch pedal. It felt fine at first as I checked the fluid level and it was good. I went back in the car to push on the pedal again and it popped, and went to the floor. I looked under the car and it was leaking out of the transmission where the bellhoushing and trans goes together. I took everything apart again and it was the black retainer that holds the throw out bearing. It has about five snaps that hold it together. Underneath that there is a rubber seal that was pooched out.

Do you think I pushed the pedal to hard to the floor and caused it to come appart? I did this with my hand even, not my foot. It really never felt like it had the right pressure like it use to.

Why do you think this keeps coming off? It acts like it's over extending the throw and causing it to pop the tabs.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Pat

I recall that the travel is adjustable on the master..... perhaps you need to reduce that travel aways? Im having a hard time visualizing the exact part. If you have a pic I can host it so that you can post it here...

Hey Chris, I will send you a picture tomorrow. It's the platic cover that goes over the throw-out bearing that holds on the spring. It will make more since to you as soon as you see the picture.

Well, if thats what you mean, Im definitely thinking that you have the master adjusted out too far and its moving far too much fluid. Adjust it waaaaaaay down and then you are going to have to work on adjusting it back out until the contact point is the right distance above the floor. Perhaps start with the clutch pedal installed at the same height as the other pedals and then go from there... Here are the pics Pat sent:

and the other:

Hope this helps....
