Talking 6spd swap 4L60E to T56

Soo I need help guys! I blew my tranny a few days ago and well i am thinking that since i have to do something with it why not go all out and make it a 6spd. I know everything that you need I just am really not sure on how to do it. Does anyone have and write ups on how to do it? Or just any helpful information?

Here you go:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-transmission/200480-m6-a4-a4-m6-conversion-info-requested.html

Just read through that. There is a write-up in there also.

I also just recently did this swap using the info in the sticky. If you need any help, I'd be happy to......looks like we're from the same town.

The thing that people say is the hardest, is trying to figure out how to get the reverse lock-out to work right. But you have to run a wire to pin 44(??) I think to have it like the GM has theirs. Ill be doing this swap veryy soon myself and hope it goes pretty smoothly.

I'm from Topeka too. The swap is absolutely not hard at all.....in fact I'd say a cam swap is more involved. The sticky at the top of this section has absolutely everything you need to know. I did mine in my freezing cold garage on jackstands with hand tools. Everyone told me not to do it too....don't listen to them, I'm sure glad I didn't.

The swap isn't hard. If you can drop a transmission, then you can do the swap. The wiring was very easy. The hardest part was finding all the swap parts that you need.

As for the reverse lock-out, I just left the solenoid in there and didn't wire it up. You have to jam it over to get it in reverse. I just left it there b/c I wanted to be sure I didn't accidentally go in reverse on the hwy.

Its purpose is to lock you out of reverse until you hit the brake or clutch or something like that. So if you leave it out then you better watch out on 4-5 shift and your 6-5 downshift so you dont accidentally go into reverse and fubar your tranny .

Thanks....it doesn't get out much, I've only put 700 miles on it in the last 15 months. Like bjamick said, all reverse lockout does is to prevent shifting into reverse when you meant to shift into 5th. The solenoid is active above ~3mph and closes the reverse gate. Below that mph, the solenoid retracts allowing you access to reverse. It's not required to keep it (I removed mine), you just need to be conscious of what you're doing when shifting into 5th gear. Even if you accidentally shoved it over into reverse, it wouldn't actually go into gear....just make a nasty noise at ya and buzz your hand.

Had mine done almost for a year now. NO regrets at all. You can sometimes find a whole "kit" to do the swap. If you need some help let us know.

I dont think you really need a reverse lock out. You really have push pretty damned hard to the right in order to get it into reverse, not something you would accidently do. Oh and for the above question, i found mine in the classified section so thats where i would start

So with the computer can 1994 computers be reprogramed or do you have to get a whole new one?
