Default 3" Of pedal Freeplay.

On my 99 Vette with 122k.

Ive had this problem forawhile as well as very black fluid. I did a clutch swap with a new slave and it hasnt fixed the problem.

I bled the system out with a mighty vac. the pedal now "is the way is was" Meaning it has always had that freeplay of 3" and on release it wont return all the way up those 3"

Known Facts
1. Clutch spring is not broken

2. When spring in s removed, you can easy move the padal 3" of travel before you get pressure from the master cylinder. It has no bearing on the problem, Infact its worse.

3. the rod moves into the mastercylinder about a inch, with that 3"pedal travel. It builds pressure from that point and does not feel spongy

Im thinking the mastercyilinder is shot?

Sounds like the master to me. Try an adjustable one so you can tailor it to the way you like it

Got a new master today.. The car is ALIVE!

Im very anxious to get this in and drive it by saturday

Do I have to bench bleed this master? Or will my Mighty vac bleed the entire system again once reinstalled?
