Can u run a Spec 3 clutch with the stock flywheel or is an aluminum flywheel needed? I need to replace my clutch this spring and would just like to get my flywheel resurfaced if its not to messed up. Not sure on the condition of teh flywheel until i get in there. I don't have money for an aluminum one at the moment so i was jw. thanks

You can use the stock flywheel...though you will need to insure that it is flat. If you have it resurfaced they should take no more than .010 off of the surface. There are also those that will shim the stock flywheel to compensate for the amount of removed material from the face...though if that much material is removed I would suggest using a new flywheel. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

If i were to use a Spec stage 2 clutch instead, would that work better with the stock flywheel or is there no difference?

Heck it doesn't even work right with their own fly wheels.

He's the smartest man alive. I know from experience, They DON'T WORK WITH the stock starter and I had to get a centerforce flywheel. Guess what it works with the starter like it's suppoed to. The spec $400 brand new fly wheel fu*ked up my started and I had to get a new one.

I have had 3 friends that ran the stock flywheel with a spec clutch. All of them melted within 5,000 miles. Everyone I know that bought a new spec flywheel with their new clutch is still going strong. Guess what I did when I just bought my new Spec 4?

Just pony up the extra dough and get a matched flywheel and you'll have nothing to worry about.

As long as the flywheel is flat and spaced accordingly...it should work fine. Some folks have great luck with the stock flywheel...others do not. This can be related to a few things including flatness of the flywheel (yes even after machining), driving style, break-in, etc... If it were me I would put a new flywheel in the car that will elimiante the potential for future issues associated with a non-flat flywheel.

As for the reference to our flywheel not working we have sole thousands of these and I have seen one that has ever had an issue (actually I had a dealer that had a problem and it has not been returned to us for inspection yet). If you have a problem that you feel you need assistance with let me know and I will be happy to assist you.

Remember, every situation is different, ever car is different, every driver is different...all these things being said...weird things can happen. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
