Need help with T56 Part numbers
Need help with T56 Part numbers Hey guys I dont know if anyone will be able to help me or not but I talked to a guy today that has a t56 setting in his garage for sale and he doesnt even know what it came out of. I asked him if it was from a LT1 or an LS1,and he doesnt know, i didnt get to see the transmission so there was no way for me to tell.
All he did was give me 2 numbers off the transmission. I dont know where the numbers were on it or anything. So can I tell from these 2 numbers what this tranny came out of? What year maybe ?

The DZA number is the GM broadcast code- I don't know how to read this.
The 1386-020 indicates an LS1/ T56 that started production in '99( it could have come in a later model car) and designates it came with a Hurst shifter.To find out when it was built you would have to get the rest of the numbers off that tag.

Cool thanks alot for the info ^^^^ He said he thought it came out of a late model camaro but he kept on saying LT1 after I told him that I needed a t56 for an LS1, I dont really think he knew what I was talking about. But your saying that "13-86-020" Does indicate that it came out of an LS1 car?
I dont think I even want to really buy something from someone who doesnt even know what they have. he said its been sitting in his garage for like a year and a half and he got it because it kept popping out of 2nd gear. he said he would sell it to my as a core or rebuild it for me including the price of the tranny for 1800 dollers, but Im prob going to pass on this one. It seems to be impossible to find a t56 in my price range that DOESNT have problems of some sort, Id buy a new one but heck im not going to pay 3100 doller for one from GM, and if I get one from somewhere else I can get one for around 1900 dollers but I dont have a core so there goin to tack 850 on top of that lol.

I asked amber about getting a "new" or a rebuilt one and the only problem is that there seems to be a shortage of T-56's to sell out right, I would have to have a core at least I think so, thats how all the other places Ive looked at are. Speed Inc has them for $1900, but you have to have a core to turn in or pay an extra $850 dollers. D&D has them for around $2400 I dont know if that includes a core charge though.

pretty sure that the 1995 that sixspeedsinc list for the 4a package includes the core cost. I Just ordered one recently, and will be turning my core back in soon so thats the 4a package for 1400 dollars after the core is refunded.
