B&M Ripper Hits console in reverse Hello everyone, I've been reading this board for a while, but I've just recently signed up to post since I've begun to mod my car. 
Anyway I recently installed a B&M ripper shifter (which I love), but whenever I put it into reverse It hits the plastic console in my car (I can see it move). The whole thing seems to be shifted over twords the passenger side because 1st gear is where 4th gear was on my factory hurst. The shifter itself works fine, but I know it can't be normal to hit the console in reverse. My car is a 2002 35th LE SS. Thanks in advance to anyone who has an answer.
P.S. Should I use the stops or not? The instructions say that they are not nessecery but some people on here say to use them.
Edit: Also the handle of the shifter is angled tword the driver side. I assume that this was the correct way to install it.

Re: B&M Ripper Hits console in reverse Boy, its been a long time since I installed mine, but as I recall its not unusual. Mine doesn't actually hit the console in reverse (although its close) but we all know about the tolerances in these cars. There may be some trimming you can do to the plastic under the boot.
Also, normal position in neutral is pointing at the driver (i.e. toward the drivers side and back a little).

I'm pretty sure he's just talking about hitting the cutout for the shifter (as opposed to the lower dash area). All of the shifters come fairly close to that cutout in reverse - even the OEM.

Re: B&M Ripper Hits console in reverse You're right. I just went and checked mine ( Ripper ) and it comes to within 1/16 in. of the cutout. I'd never noticed it before. If it were to actually touch then it would eventually wear a hole in the boot, which is what gets pinched in between there. I wouldn't think that it'd be to difficult to move the console over a little bit if need be ?

Re: B&M Ripper Hits console in reverse Well its good to hear that I am not the only one with this problem. Like I said the shifter works fine and it thankfully only hits in reverse. I cut out a bit of plastic under the boot and it greatly improved the situation. It really didn't bother me before and now I don't care since I'm not the only person with this issue. I'll just enjoy shifting into third with confidence.

Re: B&M Ripper Hits console in reverse YOu can move the B&M shifter with the bushings they sent. I put mine in the center location and it clears pretty well....where did you mount it? (What bushings, the center, or did you do the front or rear mounting?).

Re: B&M Ripper Hits console in reverse I used the "stock" position bushings. The problem isn't with hitting the front or back part of the console, I hit it on the side when I put it into reverse. My only real concern is that it rubs the boot the length of the throw into reverse and I'm afraid it will wear out my boot eventully.
