I used to have a pro 5.0 shifter before i have my Hurst now .. But i had the ws6store short stick on it... What a piece of crap.. why cant they send you the spacer?? 3rd gear was in place of where 5th gear sits... To get it into reverse i had to move the console over .5 inch... I threw it out the window and bought a Lou's short stick. And i have the lou's stick still to this day on my Hurst
You'll be fine, since you have the factory Hurst. The problems with the stick hitting the console were with just the regular factory shifter. Even with that one, I didn't have problems with it hitting the console though. I've been very happy with my 6" WS6Store short stick.

With the stock shifter it never hit the console, it came within 1/4 of an inch in both 2nd and 4th.
I have a hurst comp pro shifter now and it's nowhere near touching the console with the 6.5 inch stick. Add to that I've added the c6 shifter **** and it's at the perfect shift height for me.

Take the stick down to the local machine shop and have them cut it to whatever length you want and rethread . Now you have a custom short stick thats more to your liking . cost me about 20 bucks .
