Default filling tans up

Ok I hate to ask this, but can you fill the trans up through the shifter hole on the top. This is the fourth time I've had to fill the trans up and I'm looking for an easier way to fill it up.

Thanks. I have struggled with filling it up through the little hole on the side.

I plan to drill and tap an NPT hole in my pro 5.0 shifter base so that I can fill without removing the shifter... I seal the shifter down pretty good with RTV and a gasket, so removing/replacing is kind of a pain. Not that I change my trans fluid THAT often. But putting a fill hole in that shifter base would be cake.

Yeah, filling the side hole up can be a PITA but if you use a "lotion-style" oil pump, it's easy.
