how much play should yoke have?
I just had a viper mainshaft conversion done on my tranny... Im lookin at the yoke comming out of the tranny, and it moves quite a bit. I can grab it and move it up and down enough that it clicks up and down, not just moving a little bit. I think it should be tighter...
The tranny now has 350 miles on it, and Im still breaking it in. I have a bad vibration at 74 mph and goes to 90, and gets a little better up around 110. I have a dana 60 with 410 gears, new at the same time. Pinion is at -1.5. I had the driveshaft rebalanced after my spicer viper yoke was installed. I have done everything I can think of to get rid of the vibration, but I just noticed this yoke movement today.
The yoke has about 22 to 25 thousandths movement measured with a dial indicator on the ujoint. This is up and down movement. I just cant see how this is exceptable...
So, can anyone give me some insight here?
I have also tested the dana axles for runout, and they are perfect... so this vibration is in the driveline between the axles and the tranny...
Tranny guys, give me some hints about this movement!!
Thanks
Cody
