Space Between Pressure Plate And Flywheel Normal????

When bolting pressure plate up to the flywheel, the clutch impedes the flywheel and pressure plate from coming together. There is about 3/16 distance from pressure plate to flywheel mounting points. I have not tightened PP bolts.

Is this the normal preload of the parts? The slave cylinder actuation releases this distance??

Normal?? Should I just bolt the flywheel and pressure plate together to eliminate this distance and preload the assembly??

Are you saying that there is a space between the clutch disc and the flywheel or just the pressure plate and flywheel without a clutch disc?

If the whole thing is assembled, like you were getting ready to install the transmission there should be no space at all between any of the clutch pieces.

Space between the mount points of the PP and the flywheel corresponding mount pads. I haven't tightened it down yet, though. LS7 setup. Clutch is snuggled in there nicely, touching both flywheel and PP.

When you tighten the PP bolts to spec it will bring the PP to the flywheel. The clutch PP fingers will compress as you tighten the PP bolts.

Confirm the disc is on the right direction. It should have a mark "flywheel side" on the disc.

...actually the PP ring surface will push the "fingers" of the clutch as you tighten the PP bolts. I see in your sig it is a '01 so I assume you have a "push" type clutch.
