need a really good road race clutch
ok....my stock clutch is...well....dead, DOA, RIP...etc...you get the idea <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Here are the requirements I'm looking at:
1) I plan to some day (when money allows) go with a supercharger so the clutch needs to hold at least a good 600 RWHP.
2) I want it to be really responsive (release quick) at high RPM for road racing for fast shifts.
3) Finally, would "like" it to be streetable (not TOO hard to push)
#s 1 and 2 are the most important, #3 would be nice but I can sit in neutral at the light.
From everything I have read, Borg & Becks are the best for high rpm shifts, but they are supposed to be REALLY hard to work (peddle pressure). Is it really as bad as I have heard or is it over rated? Can I perhaps, put a larger master cylinder and make it easier to work?
Finally, should I go with a billet steel or an aluminum fly wheel. I NEVER EVER drag race the car so off the line "jump" is not a concern. Is the gain worth the cost of an aluminum fly wheel?
Thanks,
Chris

Roadracing....go with the aluminum flywheel. You will see increased speed at the end of every straight stretch on the course. I'm looking at the Spec clutch set up for my daily driver/autocrosser/track car as soon as my stock clutch dies. It seems to be a great piece (I talked to a rep at the Hyperfest at Lowes motorspeedway last year and I was favorably impressed.

Call LG Motorsports and talk to Lou about his house-brand clutch/flywheel. It isn't listed on his site, and it's expensive; but it ought to do the job. The pedal is stout (I have only felt it in a pair of C5's), but Lou says that he has never had a problem with it.
Worth a phone call at the very least.
