Default My clutch smells?? Does that mean...

my clutch is going bad. My wife has also noticed it behaving different. I tried to power brake it last week and it smoked the clutch. Smelled bad for days after. Also a few times it has slipped in second under that hard launch with a good tire spin and hammer it in second. That load doesn't seem to like the clutch.

Should I plan on a new clutch this winter. With the mods below, I new the day would come.

Also, what is a good clutch that can handle 400 or so rwhp and still behave like the stock clutch. My wife drives the car some times and reminds me about a hard clutch peddle.

Thanks

Yep, get a new one. I smoked mine about a week after I installed that TR224 cam. Only had 3500 miles on the car, too.

What he said...but the guy who owned it before me sprayed on the stock one. I pulled it: the disk looked brand new, but the flywheel and the pressure plate were scorched. I don't race, I have only bolt ons, so I went with a Z06 replacement from gmpartsdirect.
