same as datzneat, it works really well. With my factory hurst i always used to miss 3rd aswell, now i have a pro 5.0 which i cut about an inch off of.. havent missed a shift yet and i love knowing the stops are there so i can shift as hard as i want and not worry about a over throw. I use a alum Tremec ball, just fits my shifting style the best

Stock shifter, just shortened with a B&M T-handle. Works wonders. I have only missed one 3rd gear shift and that was because the t handle was loose and it spun off as I was throwing it towards third. Other wise no problems. In my Fox body I had a pro 5.0 and wow it was bad ***. So that may be the next shifter. I love the t-handle though.

But honestly, no matter what shifter you have, nothing can be as beneficial as practice.
This is how I do it... http://youtube.com/watch?v=XedpZ_BkG4w
