I just had a Spec stage 3 clutch pakage installed on my 99 SS along with a lightweight flywheel. Coming out of 1st gear the clutch chatter is bad unless you launch the car at about 1800 rpm. I have only drove the car for about 45 minutes so nothing is broken in yet. Anyway's is this normal? I also put in 410's. The car feels alot better, it's angry. Thanks for any help

Yep its normal. Mine chattered for the first couple hundred miles, really bad trying to start out going uphill. You'll get used to the clutch and figure out how to drive it soon plus it will break in - then you probably won't even notice it anymore. Mine chatters here and there, but drives almost like stock.

Break in is typically suggested as 500 miles of city driving - highway miles don't really work the clutch Just take it easy for quite a while then I suggest kind of ramping up your launches, shifts, then do some dumps. What I mean is after the initial break in, start shifting at higher revs, then higher etc. Then do some launches and you'll be good to go.

I have the same problem with my star spec stage 3 clutch with aluminum flywheel, I have had it on for about 2000 miles now and the vibration and chatter still hasn't gone away. The vibration isn't as bad now that I have 4.10 gears, but the chatter is still pretty horrible. I broke the clutch in for about 500 miles and I took it very easy on it. Also this is on a 2002 SS, so the hydraulics shouldn't be a problem. Do either one of you or anyone else have any suggestions to what it could be or do I need to check anything? Or is this just normal with the Star Spec Stage III Clutch?

the proper way to break in the spec clutches it to drive it easy for about 500 miles then do a few 3k dumps and it will smoothe right out ya kinda re learn to drive the car
