Re: Tranny grinds when.... If you have one synchro going bad, its only a matter of time until the others follow. They sell rebuild kits for around $250 that replaces all of them. Since the tranny has to be completely disassembled, you should always just install new synchs for each gear while you have it open.
Total rebuild cost is typically in the $750 range (labor and parts). You can attempt it yourself, but you will need special tools which cost around $500 for the set.
Or, you can just live with the grind and keep beating on it until it no longer shifts at all and then do the rebuild. I raced a full season with 3 bad synchros, it ground like hell but seemed to shift just as quickly. lol

Re: Tranny grinds when.... Thanks Nineball. I'll probably just wait then, it only grinds when downshifting into third, and even then its only when the RPM's are going to climb into the mid 2,000's.
BTW: Im 100% sure this is a result of runing a Mclod clutch with stock 98 hydraulics. Not drilled or anything, and I have ground a few times going into third at 5k+ RPM.
