ls1 six speed into a lt1 auto car

Default ls1 six speed into a lt1 auto car

Is this at all possible to put a six speed from an ls1 car into my 1994 z28 with an lt1? If so what all is needed to do this right now my car is a stock a4 and im looking to do the six speed swap. thanks everyone

It can be done, but it's not worth it IMO. You have to change the front plate and input shaft on the trans to lt1 pieces, then you need a lt1 bellhousing, clutch fork, clutch & flywheel. Much much easier to start with a lt1 t56.

oh alright i was just checkin just in case i run into a ls1 six speed for sale. Thanks for the info. Ill just keep my eyes peeled for a lt1 six speed then.

in your sig it says you did the conversion, how hard was it and if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost you to do

It wasn't hard at all. Besides cutting a hole in the trans tunnel for the shifter and a hole in the firewall for the master cylinder, it's a straight bolt-in swap. I got lucky and found someone to trade setups with straight up, so all I had to was buy the shifter I wanted along with a new master & slave......less than $300 for that stuff. Of course then I ended up having to rebuild the trans shortly after the swap b/c the synchros were shot.....that cost me $750 in parts. If you end up having to buy everything to do the swap (trans/bell, flywheel/clutch, pedals, crossmember, hydraulics etc), plan on spending around $2k.
