Default Noob Shift Questions

I just got an m6 Trans am and I had a few shifting questions. I read the stickys and did a search but there were 2 answers I couldn't find.

1.) Is it bad for the transmission/clutch to be at high rpms when I disengage the clutch (e.g. go into gear)?
2.) When I shift at high rpms (or any rpms for that matter), should I be giving it throttle as I disengage the clutch?

Sorry if they sound like dumb questions, I have driven a standard for years, but this is my first car where I have any desire to make it go fast (powershifting a work truck isn't as much fun). Thanks for any help you guys can give.

1) It shouldn't be bad as long as you're doing it correctly as its meant to handle that power. Theres no other way to get decent power without shifting high up in your rpm range, ie: near redline"

2.) I give it slight throttle as its starting to catch and then floor it when its completely out (when trying to go fast :p)

I'm not completely sure about the second response I'm sort of a noob at shifting also.

I guess it could be bad if you're slipping the clutch or letting the revs drop a lot in between shifts.

Every clutch feels different on every car, for a multitude of reasons. Depending on your master cylinder, torque rating of clutch, and lifetime of clutch, you can have a variety of engagement points, clutch feel, response, ease of shifting...etc.

Driving a manual, especially in these cars, is all about getting used to every single different setup you have. I replaced the master cylinder in my car the other day. Completely changed the engagement point of the pedal. Caught me off guard.

Well i think your talking about slipping the clutch at high RPMs and no that is not ok, a sure way to burn it up. If your asking about launching i would say just rev it up to about 3k to 4k then just start letting the clutch out but try not to spin the tires but dont let it out to slow to were you burn the clutch. LOL hard to explain kinda one of those things you just have to go practice.

Cool, thanks for the input guys. I drove it to work today and played a bit, and I think I was just easing the clutch out too slow. Still getting used to the car too, quite different from the old v6 truck...imagine that.
