Friend of mine also has a 1999 Trans Am, and it likes to pop out of 3rd gear while driving. Any thoughts?!

My brand new 2001 Z28 I had a couple years ago popped out of third since the day it rolled off the car hauler. This 2000 I have has done it since 7000 miles. It happens mostly if the revs are almost perfectly matched when upshifting slow. Some say its a bent 2-3 fork that causes it but seeing I have had 2 new cars that did it without really being abused who knows. This car shifts perfect at WOT so I'm not going to fool with it until it breaks I may go through it and try a steel shift fork and new 3rd gear syncros over the winter but for now I just push it back in when it pops out

 

there is a GM bulliten on that prob its probably covered by warranty!! If u can use it

 

Had the same problem on my 98 z28 for the past 3 years. It would randomly pop out of third, but only on the 2-3 shift. I'm currently getting my trans rebuilt to fix that problem (among others.
