I'm totally confused. I do research on GM synchromesh and I get conflicting opinions! Some say it's not safe, others say it is. I do know that everyone who has used it loves it! But if it's going to hurt the transmission on my '01 M6, then I'll live with the notchyness!!! Can I use synchromesh in an M6 or not <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I contacted Redline's tech dept. regarding the GM Syncromesh fluid a few years ago (the NV3500 5-speed in my truck uses it stock) and they told me that it was little more than 5W-30. I can't confirm this, but I tend to believe them since they had nothing to gain by telling me.
I use Redline D4ATF in my M6 and its been great. It meets the requirements for DexIII and it will not harm the syncros in the T56 as has been reported about some other synthetic ATF's. It costs about the same as GM Syncromesh too (at least the last time I checked at the dealership it wasn't cheap).
