Default slave issues

Im running a SBC with a t56. Every conversion piece works so far and im stuck as to what to do. I have installed about 4 slave cylinders and each have had issues.

I have had an issue of the pedal being at the floor before engagement, (fixxed by bleeding the hell out of it)....then it popped.... (yes it had fluid b4 it popped)

had 1 leak at the hydraulic line fitting...

had 1 work for about a week... then it blew its guts out...

Is there some type of shim or anything im missing for less travel.. it seems the slave is overextending to compensate. would it be advisable to remove the slave cyl cover to put the slave closer to the fork?

How are the slaves failing? Is the piston overextending and popping off or is there damage to the inner bore of the slave from the input shaft?
