Default Some wierd problems

I searched but I didnt really know what to put.

So here is what happens. When I am driving on the highway sometimes I am not paying attention to my speed and are going too slow for 6th. So I do what anybody else does and shift down. When sometimes shift down to 5th it grinds an sometimes it doesnt. TOday it almost seemed like it went into reverse like the lockout solenoid was bad.

Do they go out sometimes?

Maybe I am not pushing down the clutch pedal early enough?

Let me know your thoughts I am new to manual transmissions.

If the problem's specific for a gear, then it's probably a transmission problem, could be pads, could be keys, could be linkage. We'll need a little more info specific, but in actuality you'll have to tear it down to find out.

Well it doesnt happen all the time. I think I am just not paying attention to it. I think I am actually trying to put it into gear before I have the clutch all the way down.

Any other opinions?
