Mkay, here's my little 2 cents...... The flywheel pretty much can't be re-surfaced without risking running into a problem exactly like yours. +1 on flywheel being the culprit.... +1 on starting simple and not tearing that pain in the freeking neck t56 out of there..... Bleed first, then pull the tranny if that doesn't work.
And how dare cammedss2000 come in here threadjacking and being a grade A idiot!!! That really puts an impression out to me of your character. This forum does not need more people coming on here and being jackasses! And for the record, the Miata may only be a Miata, but it will DESTROY your car. If you haven't noticed, 12.5 is pretty damn slow for a shopping list as big as yours.
Tires are just an excuse for crappy timeslips. Pathetic.
Moving on, best of luck to you man, and just remember that flywheels are relatively cheap brand new, and I'll vouch for F1 flywheels, the 15lb. steel. If you're not drag racing, this flywheel is awesome for the money! Very noticeable difference.
